Technology Brief: Researchers at New Jersey Institute of Technology in the Department of Chemistry and Environmental Science invented a novel delivery devices and methods to deliver seedlings and/or seeds aerially to reforest areas in need of reforestation.
The invention is a reforestation capsules composed of biodegradable materials are operable to be used in aerial reforestation operations. Capsules may contain one or more seedlings, compacted fertilizer, soil, and/or nutrients. Capsules include a flight platform component and cone tip component. The capsule structure survives impact and may serve as additional nutrient for the seedling(s).
